In the current season, Ukraine significantly reduced the supply of oats to India and Pakistan

In July-January of 2017/18 MY, Ukraine exported 7.2 thsd tonnes of oats only, a decrease of 69% compared with the same period last season (23.4 thsd tonnes). At the same time, in the current season Ukraine shipped the grain to 22 countries, against 17 countries last season.

Reduction of oats purchases from India and Pakistan contributed to development of the reporting decline. Thus, in the reporting period India imported 50 tonnes of Ukrainian oats only, last year the figures totaled 10.2 thsd tonnes. Pakistan still kept its position of the main country-importer of Ukrainian oats, but in July-January of the current MY the country reduced its purchases to 4.2 thsd tonnes, against 10.7 thsd tonnes in the same period of 2016/17 MY.

At the same time, in the current season some EU countries became interested in Ukrainian oats. So, in 2016/17 MY the Netherlands did not made any purchases, but in July-January of the current MY the country imported 500 tonnes of the grain from Ukraine. Also, in the current season Austria imported 263 tonnes of the grain.
